With her open, friendly manner and a face creased into an almost permanent smile, it’s hard to imagine anyone distrusting Libby Snead, no matter how wide the cultural gap. She projects an aura of goodwill and concern that bridges any difference in background.

Her education in a standard liberal arts curriculum didn’t prepare Libby to help Malaysian farmers reorganize their agricultural operations.

Growing up on the Snead’s family farm, however, gave her at least a passing acquaintance with farming. As a member of horse and pony clubs, she mastered horsemanship. She picked up a little here and there on sheep care from giving her mother a hand with the family flock. But her expertise in dairy cattle is a combination of book learning and learning by doing.
