Other complications that may arise iduring labor can be discovered “with more than enough time to reach a hospital,” she said. “If there’s not enough time, it’s usually, because of ignorance and neglect,” Sher added.
In her ACHI course, Sher teaches parents to recognize complications and emergencies: “how to handle them and most importantly, to be aware of the limits of what they are able to handle.”
She also helps parents find—before delivery time—a doctor willing to meet them at a hospital and care for the mother-to-be as a private patient in case home birth doesn’t work out.
