Robert Eastham asked if there wasn't money available for cars in the increased support of the sheriffs department by the state.
Buntin explained that the state will pick up all salaries and a portion of operational costs for the first time this year but that the additional funds can’t be used to finance buying county cars. He maintained, however, that with the additional money easing the impact of law enforcement costs on the local treasury, this would be a good time to purchase police vehicles.
Dave Moore asked for the supervisors’ decision on providing county cars, stating his support for the proposal.
