School board member Robert Eastham interjected that the board has also taken steps to reduce-the mileage traveled by the school’s transportation fleet. "We've put together as wise a provision as we can," he maintained. Eastham asked if there were any other changes to the budget proposed by the school board other than the addition of Title 1 programs and funds.
"Not that I know of,” Luke replied. "If there has been, it’s inadvertent." The supervisor chairman acknowledged that he’d planned earlier to add $10,248 to give all school employees the same 12 per cent salary increase awarded to teachers. Luke said he’d changed his mind, however, after determining that most of the non-instructional staff will receive close to 12 per cent without the addition to the budget.
