THAT KNEE PAIN
COULD BE
FROM THE FOOT
Many people begin to jog to get themselves in shape and reduce the risk of heart attacks, but are forced to stop because of knee pain. Approximately 2000 lbs. of force are applied to the foot with each running step. Often the foot may be slightly out of alignment with the ground, but this malalignment may not show up until the person starts to jog. The stress that begins In the foot is transferred up the leg into the knee and continued up into the hip. Many times this problem may be treated with a simple insert in the shoe to help realign the foot to the ground. This can reduce or eliminate the pain In the knee (or back). The extra stress of jogging may show up other minor problems with the foot. If so, seek attention, for staying active helps keep you healthy.
