Birds Welcome
Japanese Visitor
On July 20, Diana and Lee Bird will welcome Monoru Oda of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, for several weeks stay in the area. He is coming under the auspices of The Experiment in International Living, an organization with which the Birds have cooperated for 25 years.
Oda is 28 and a teacher of English in the Ushitsu senior high school. This will be his first visit to the United States. In college, he specialized in cross cultural comparison of Japan and the United States.
He is prepared to speak before groups interested in learning about modera Japan and if any families would like to have him visit for a week or more in their homes prior to September 6, they should get in touch with the Birds.
Minoru Oda’s first interest in visiting the U.S. is to improve his English language skills and to experience home and community life here.
