Coach Leake reported that he received above average play from all the Panthers who participated in the Fredericksburg tournament. “Especially from left fielder Rob Brown. He was our leading hitter, getting seven hits in 11 times at bat,” Leake said.
David Herndon, who went two for six, and Tony Williams, who was four for seven, also had good days in the batters box, according to the coach. “They both got long triples that would have been home runs if the field had a fence,” Leake said.
H. B. Wood, Chucky Jenkins and Craig Williams all played errorless ball in the tournament. Leake said. In addition, he noted that Wood stole five bases.
