The Skyline All-Stars, with six players from Rappahannock’s Golden Panthers. finished fourth out of eight teams in the Eastern Virginia Regional Junior Babe Ruth Tournament in Fredricksburg last weekend.
While complementing his boys on their performance, coach Gary Leake noted that the youngsters played four games in 24 hours in the double elimination tournament for 13-year-olds. "That needs to be pointed out,” he said.
In the first contest Saturday morning. Skyline took on Lane of Charlottesville. a triple A team picked as probable tournament winner. Skyline came out on top. 8-7.
The only team to play a back-to-back double header in the first round. Skyline lost to Front Royal that afternoon, 9-6.
