In a hand written will dated December, 1948, Mrs. Wood divided the bulk of her estate between the Virginia Division of the American Cancer Society and “the State of Virginia organization or foundation engaged in research concerning ailments of the heart and heart trouble.”
In his 1948 will, Robert Eugene Wood split most of his estate between the “cancer and heart funds of Virginia.”
While Mrs. Wood’s bequest to the Cancer Society has been settled, heirs have challenged the gifts left by the Woods to the heart organizations on the grounds that the bequests are indefinite and vague.
