Bridesmaids included Miss Rhonda Williams of Chester Gap, Miss Cindy Mills of Strasburg, Ms. Debbie Atkins of Front Royal and Mrs. Judy Deal of Hume, a cousin of the bridegroom. Their gowns were also lavender, similar to that of the honor attendant, and they had nosegays of silk violets and rosebuds.
C. B. Johnson of Sperryville was best man and ushers were Bert Gilkey of Chester Gap, brother of the bride; C. E. Dodson, Greg Wayland and Tony Wayland, all of Sperryville.
A reception followed at the Chester Gap fire hall where the wedding cake was served by Mrs. Nellie Gilkey Wines, of Front Royal the bride’s grandmother. Presiding at the punch bowls were Miss Nancy McNeill of Front Royal, a cousin of the bride, and Miss Janet Alther of Washington, the bridegroom’s cousin.
