SS Cases
Reviewed Social Security is required to review most disability cases at least once every three years starting in 1982 because of the 1960 disability amendments. The reviews are conducted to determine if a person is still disabled. As an important first step in making the required* reviews, Social Security is increasing significantly the number of continuing disability investigations it makes. About 350,000 cases will be reviewed during the remainder of this fiscal year. Next year, more than 500,000 cases will be reviewed.
