The welfare board meets once every month with two or three special meetings usually called during a year, according to Mrs. Buntin.
Wood suggested that Latham continue as the supervisors' representative for the time being. “That will give the other members time to think about it and we can name somebody next month. They might find more time than they think they’ve got.” With the issue of supervisor representative tabled, Mrs. Buntin moved onto budget problems she’s recently uncovered. In a detailed review, she explained that action by the supervisors to eliminate $5,456 for administration of the fuel assistance program from the welfare budget, their decision to transfer an additional $4,000 from purchased services to indirect cost allocation plus adjustments made to the budget by the state office have apparently left the county approximately $10,000 short in local funds. The transfer of $4,000 to indirect costs must be justified by a complicated plan “which I feel sure would take an accountant to do,” Mrs. Buntin said, explaining that for this reason, she’d dropped the allocation from the 1981-82 welfare budget. In addition, she said that she didn’t know in which category to place the $4,000.
