“Common Sense Conservation in Land Development”, a slide-tape presentation developed by the Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Commission, will be featured at the annual membership meeting of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, beginning at 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 18th, at the courthouse in Washington. Officers for the coming year will also be elected.
The ' slides and accompanying narrative take a hard look at the problems of erosion and sediment control from the perspective of not only the landowner, but also the developer and the local official. The 20-minute presentation, developed by

Reception
A recognition reception for Dr. J. B. Early, Jr. and Dr. A. E. Powell of Madison is scheduled for Sunday, September 13 from three until five o’clock at the American Legion hall in Madison.
The event is a tribute to the doctors for their continuing contributi >n to the wellbeing of the citizens of Madison County and surrounding area. Dr. Early has been in practice since 1940 and Dr. Powell opened his office the following year. Everyone is welcomed.
