When questioned about the things in life that make them happy, a group of mentally retarded adults said recently that having friends to share meals and experiences took top priority in their lives. Lucky for them, they now have the opportunity to gather daily at the Adult Developmental Activity Ceatier which meets in the Warrenton Presbyterian Church.
For those who attend, the center provides an opportunity to socialize and learn essential life and prevocational skills. It also affords them the opportunity to enjoy the company of others who, like themselves, may be a little slow when it comes to learning new things.
This program allows participants to learn vital prevocational skills as well as giving them a chance to become more familiar with community resources. Activities include field trips, lessons about coin recognition, safety, language and communication
