This is the first time the Lions Club has sponsored a blood drive, according to Col. Robert Ingle, chairman of the drive. The 39 members of the club constitute a “network” throughout the county, he says, and will approach people they know to urge them to give blood. This person-to-person approach has been particularly effective elsewhere in Red Cross blood drives.
Blood donors can be anyone between the ages of 17 and 65 who is in generally good health, does not have a cold, or who has not had penicillin in the two weeks preceding the giving of blood. A donor can give blood as often as every 56 days.
