“We’ll have a new jail for Christmas,” announced Supervisors H. B. Wood after Rappahannock’s board voted unanimously at Tuesday’s special meeting to issue a contract to Baughan Construction Company of Luray for renovation of the countv jail.
At $122,475, Baughan was the low bidder on the project.
Work can begin as soon as the contract is signed, said architect Hunter Spencer, noting that signing must be within 30 days of the May 19 bid opening. “That’s as long as the prices are good for.”
He estimated five months construction time, dependant upon receipt of special security items such as locks and doors. Since
