Gifted and Talented Program.
I assigned extra projects, but felt 1 was unable to oversee the work to the point that the students deserved. I needed workable ideas for supervising young students in individual study. The in-services and workshops were not forthcoming.
Finally, in early February, we were presented with packets outlining the G & T Program, most of which, to my disappointment, would be offered to students after school hours or during the summer. Several parents complained about the lack of a structured program in school hours. We were told that something would happen in the spring. It didn’t.
That spring, I brought my own TRS-80 Color Com-, puter to the classroom. This made possible hands-on experience in writing simple programs in BASIC. Several of my top students did this, working their way done through the manual, while I worked with the rest if the class on basic learning skills. Again, I regretted that I couldn’t spend more time helping those top students.
At the end of the year, in total frustration, I talked with the superintendent and Special Programs coordinaor. I shared my ideas for a
