Students of Wakefield School's sixth-grade medieval history class recently received congratulatory letters from U.S. Senators Paul Trible (R-Va.) and John Warner (R-Va.)
The students won third place honors, junior division, in the state championship contest of the National History Competition held at Lynchburg College at the end of May.
Competing against regional winners in grades six through eight from all over the state, the Wakefield students presented a group perfcntance entitled, “A Page’s Progress,” written by sixth grader MatConsistent
with the theme of the contest, “The Family in History,” the performance demonstrated how the extended family provided a network of education for the Bons of the nobility during the middle ages.
i Judges at Lynchburg praised the students for originality of treatment and for fine performances.
In addition to Lynn, students participating included Tom Trumbower, Ian Williams, Brian Favre and Louis Brown.
