Campbell and Chappell attributed effective teaching of basics in the schools and emphasis on education by parents in the home as fundamental to every success in Rappahannock’s public school system.
Parental guidance, according to Campbell, has helped keep Rappahannock’s drop-out rate, at two percent, well below state norms nearing six percent.
Campbell also said that high attendance levels in Rappahannock Schools were indicative of parental concern and teacher motivation.
Daily attendance at the high school last year averaged 94 percent, and about 97 percent at the elementary, Campbell said.
