Now that he has mastered his own problem, he is able to help others. He says ISHguage should flow like music, with smooth groupings of words.
The grouth problem area involves the voice itself. An example is adolescent boys whose voices “crack” as they develop into manhood.
Some people speak only in a high falsetto; others can’t speak above a whisper. Some, like politicians and athletes grow hoarse from shouting; others have growths on their vocal chords. And some can’t speak at all because of psychological reasons. Gottlieb’s specialized training has taught him to teach others how to cope with all these problems.
Among senior citizens, there are three conditions that lead to the need for speech therapy: strokes, progressive hearing loss, and cancer of the larynx.
Sometimes after a stroke, a person’s speech comes back spontaneously in a few months. Still, the results generally are better with professional help.
Many people who cannot hear well frequently do not speak clearly. Gottlieb helps through a variety of treatments: teaching them to read lips, or simply urging them to pay closer attention when someone speaks to them.
Gottlieb has treated people with speech difficulties who are only two or as old as 90. He also helped a 32year-old woman who had never spoken before in her life.

There is a sliding scale of charges for this one-on-one tutoring, based on a person’s ability to pay. But Gottlieb says that money will never prevent a person from receiving the speech therapy he or she needs.
