The Fauquier Youth Baseball Board of Commissioners has ruled three AmissviUe teams must forfeit all games this season alter an apparent rule violation involving use of 13 ineligible players.
The teams, representing the Rappahannock County community of AmissviUe in Fauquier’s Minor League and Midget League, allegedly have used players from Culpeper County in violation of the program’s bylaws, Fauquier Youth Baseball Commissioner Terry Arbogast confirmed Monday.
The bylaws state in an agenda on page 3 under a paragraph on team rosters: “No player residing outside Fauquier County can participate in the Fauquier County Youth Baseball Program with the exception of the AmissviUe teams. (Players must be from Rappahannock-Fauquier County).”
The Fauquier Youth Baseball Board of Commissioners made the ruling June 20 after conferring with AmissviUe officials twice, Arbogast said.
AmissviUe fields two teams in the Minor League (for kids ages 6-10) and one each in the Midget League (ages 10-12) and the pee Wee League (ages 13-15). Arbogast said there were nine ineligible players on the Minor League team and six on the Midget League team. The Pee Wee League team is not affected, Arbogast said.
