Before the doors can open to more educational opportunities in Rappahannock County, the Child Care and Learning Center, formerly called Sursum Corda, needs more financial support.
Since 1979, Learning Center finances have more than sextupled: Browing from a modest budget of
>,000 that year to a projected
of $128,000 for fiscal 1984. With this growth, the Learning Center has provided more opportunities to more people who need services.
The present problem is space. Unless the Child Care and Learning Center gets more of it, it will have to forfeit its state day-care center license.
The Learning Center.currently is squeezed into a rental farmhouse located just outside the town of Washington. The situation is this:
• The rooms in the farmhouse only 225 square feet, each, are too confining for small, active children.
• There is no formal lunchroom,
