While ■'-many scratch their heads and wonder, the Garrigans persevere year after year—although every year there are some doubts as to whether or not the show will go on.
Is the fireworks finale at Avon Hall a show so special that it must go on? We think so.
Still, we join many citizens who wonder who—or what organization—will pick up the leadership role, bear the planning burden, and put forth the finances tendered for nearly a quarter century by the Carrigans.
Who cares so much for this bright night? Who cares so much for Rappahannock—for America?
It's a question that needs to be kicked around, perhaps by Town Council, civic groups or a special contingent of concerned citizens who can call themselves Americans For Independence Day (AID).
