Almost exactly a century ago in a quiet, peaceful valley at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a monster arose on the side of a mountain. It gobbled up trees as if they were pretzel sticks, leaving behind giant mounds of earth and a scar on the mountain that could never be repaired. It roared down the mountain destroying everything in its path, hitting Rush River with such force the shock waves alone killed every trout for miles in both directions.
