Both now are backed by an "honorary steering committee,” more than 20 Rappahannock citizens who have worked diligently to gamer funding for the new building project.
The Child Care and Learning Center doesn’t need much—just a few dollars more.
Already, sacrifices in the scope of the building project have been made to insure its completion.
The building committee recently slashed $30,000 from the price of the facility to be constructed by dropping plans for a more costly, passive-solar,earth-berm structure.
The board of directors is willing to do more, if necessary. At their meeting of June 10, the board gave the go-ahead to the building project—even if it means digging deeper into members’ own pockets or going outside to finance the rest of the project.
“We’ve discovered it’s a very expensive process,” Dietel says, shrugging her shoulders. “But we’re going ahead.”
