Historical Society Meeting & Picnic
The Rappahannock Historical Society will hold its annual meeting and picnic at “Mont Medi”, home of the Irvin Kilbys on August 10 at 6 p.m.
“Mont Medi” dating back to the Revolutionary was built with logs and enlarged in 1838 by Captain J.S. Stark. Weather boarding was also added. Miss Mary Elisabeth Hite, author of “A Rappahannock Story Book” lived there.
“Mont Medi” is on U.S. 231, approximately six miles from Sperryville. Members and houseguests and those who wish, to join the Society are invited to attend.
Enrichment and After-School Programs
The Child Care and Learning Center announces an all-new afterschool child care program, beginning August 23. Preschool, school-age, teen/adult jazz, tap, ballet classes will begin a new series on September 18: Children’s and adult karate will begin their new series on September 6. Brand-new this fall will be a course in Stained Glass. Call 675-3237 for further information.
Beahm Family Reunion
The families and descendants of the late George Washington and Nancy Bolen Beahm will have their annual reunion on Sunday, September 2 at the Rappahannock Park beginning at 8 a.m.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and a beverage.
