I am appreciative of the compliments bestowed upon me and others associated with The Child Care and Learning Center in the letter appearing in last week’s Rappahannock News. Indeed, it is only because of our “vision, commitment and dedicated efforts” that we can rise above such a ruthless attack on the very fundamentals of the Center! We thank you for your forbearance in matters more appropriately resolved through open discussions but now brought before the public.
As executive director, I wish to address the issues that have been brought up and to “set the record straight.” Prefacing my remarks, however, I state quite simply that the people who have signed this letter are misdirecting their own frustrations. They object to a 17 percent increase in the Center’s Infant-Toddler program. They object to our enforcing financial contracts that are agreed upon and signed by parents. Some of them have “Biots! objections" to. Virginia state requirements for frill immunization of children in licensed day care centers. Fortunately, the five names represent only three families out of hundreds of families that have been associated with the Center over its eight years of operations.
