The Veterans Administration regional office in Roanoke has issued 1,400 Certificates of Eligibility to date for Virginia veterans to participate in the Emergency Veterans Jobs Trainlag Act program. Approvals have bean granted for 669 job training slots offered by Virginia employers.

The V.A. Regional and the Virginia Employment Commission continue to seek out employers and unemployed Vietnam era and Korean conflict veterans to take advantage of the opportunities now being offered by this legislation.

The program will fund payment to employers for 50 percent of the starting hourly wages of veterans. Up to $10,000 for each individual trained may be provided for a maximum of 16 months of training for certain veterans
