Executive Session
Konkk’s continued questioning had brought the gavel from chairman Bird when member Sharon Luke requested that the board move into executive session to discuss personnel matters. Members agreed and an executive session was held.
Upon return to open session, Bird told the group in the courtroom that the BZA had discussed personnel matters and was prepared to share some of them with the audience.
Konick asked that the board return to executive session and they did so.
Upon return again to public session, the chairman said that no action \ had been taken.
Bird entered into the record the history of the variance request, and letters of support from Margery Exton and Ray L. Gooch.
Finally, three of the members: Bird, Kramer and James Swindler, were unable to find that the Center would suffer sufficient hardship by adhering to the ordinance.
George Muth voted for the variance; Luke abstained.
In other business, the board: voted for the Sharp’s Special Use Permit for temporary living quarters for farm workers; voted to extend Swindler’s Special Use Permit; and granted Elmer Atkins’ Special Use Permit for a sign in Sperryville.
