High school students will have a chance to compete on the state level for a total of $7,400 in scholarships. The scholarships are entirely funded by voluntary contributions from Virginia’s Lions Clubs. i

The chairman of the local Bland committee, Maurice Herndon, said that the principals of Rappahannock High School, Rappahannock Elementary School and Wakefield School will have the registration forms for students who wish to participate. Students must register before the contest on February 24 at 3 p.m. in the music room at the elementary school. Any students who reside outside of Rappahannock can register and compete in their local Lions Club’s contest.
