Basically all models of Common ownership or Commonwealth in Schumacher’s book give the members a social consciousness and awareness rarely found in any business organization of the conventional kind. We can ascribe the Japanese industrial miracle to this awareness of the corporate structure for the individual members.
The Government of Rappahannock County is doing its best, also doing its ’jest to fight change. “Change is inevitable,” Disraeli said, “in a progressive country change is constant. To govern is to rectify.” The appointment of an Industrial Commission of Innovation Research and Development would be a first step for a blueprint for a change for the better-“economies as if people mattered.”
A blueprint that will encourage the development of our natural resources that are now idle. A blueprint that will consider the possible use of all the talent and human resources that are now being exploited outside the county.

To the editor:
If the county had paid George Davis at the rate Mr. Luke is asking for, George would have been a millionaire very shortly. He saw the needs and acted accordingly.
Few people, I believe, realize how much good George did for Rappahannock County. I know it because I was there.
