Culpeper Chapter NSDAR Will Meet

An author and writer will highlight the February program of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Harry Neal, resident of Culpeper, will review the exciting book “The Way of Duty” which is about a woman and her family in Revolutionary America.

Chapter members, at this meeting will have their final opportunity to add to the contribution to be made by the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter NSDAR for the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. February 14 is known nation wide by the NSDAR chapters as “Liberty Love Day.”

Mrs. John T. Dailey and Mrs. John H. McDevitt, both from Culpeper will host this February meeting to be held Tuesday the 12th at 2 p.m. in the social hall of the Culpeper United Methoidst Church.

“Silkwood”

Meryl Streep stares in “Silkwood,” the story of Karen Silkwood’s union activism, her contamination by plutonium and her mysterious death in a single car crash, to be shown this Saturday and Sunday, February 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gay Street Theatre. It’s rated R.

Home Mission Study

The Home Mission Study Course of Sue Slaughter W.M.U. in Shiloh Association will be held at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church on February 7 at 7 p.m. Mrs. Doris Donald, Sue Slaughter group leader will lead the study of the book entitled, “Light Upon The Land,” and a film presentation of mission work in the west central states. All lay persons, members of W.M.U., pastors and everyone interested in missions are cordially invited. In the event of bad weather, the date will be Thursday, February 14 or the first Thursday thereafter weather permitting.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous will begin meeting in Sperryville on Monday evenings at 8:30 in the Baptist Church basement on Rt. 211. These meetings are “open” which means that friends and family members are welcome.

EMT Refresher Course

There will be an Emergency Medical Training refresher course at the Flint Hill Firehouse on February 18 at 8 p.m.

Childbirth Classes Offered

A new series of childbirth classes will begin Monday, February 11 from 7-9 p.m. at Washington Baptist Church, and will continue to March 25. These classes are to prepare couples for labor and delivery using Lamaz breathing technique, to teach early parenting skills, infant care and to give breast feeding information.

A fee of $45 includes a manual, lending library and a film showing. Please contact Rose Ann Sharp at 675-3887 for more information.
