Phobias Seminar To Be Held
Phobias are now the nation’s number one emotional disorder. A seminar on phobias, panic and anxiety attacks featuring Jerilyn Ross, a nationally respected authority on phobias will be held at Primavera Treatment Center located between Warrenton and Culpeper on April 12. DeWitl To Perform At Shenandoah College
Lew DeWitt, an original member of the Statler Brothers, will perform at Shenandoah College and Conservatory on Saturday, April 20 at 6 p.m. The concert, sponsored by Shenandoah’s Community Arts Program, will be in Armstrong Auditorium.
Advance sale tickets for the concert are $5 and available at the Armstrong Auditorium Box Office. Admission at the door will be $6. For additional information contact Becky Rupp at 665-4510.
Volunteer Training
Training for one-on-one volunteers for the lumen’s Abuse Shelter will be held on April 22, 25, 29 and May 2 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oneon-one volunteers are trained to provide direct services to battered women and their children.
Topics covered will be the social and psychological dynamics of spouse abuse, values clarification: counseling skills for volunteers working with battered women, community resources and shelter operations and legal issues related to domestic violence.
Current W.A.S. volunteers are invited to attend any session as a “refresher” course. The sessions will be held at the W.A.S. office at 102 N. Main Street, Room 23 (second floor above The Comer Shelf and Kezebo) in Culpeper.
