Student help available
More than 500 students, many with strong horse backgrounds, are enrolled in the animal science curriculum at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
The department is hands-on oriented as well as providing students with a strong science base, communication skills, computer technology, economics and marketing as options.
These students are available for interaction with the horse industry and need opportunities for employment, training or apprentice programs and summer jobs. Horse farms and businesses are encouraged to consider this excellent pool of potential employees.

• Show jumping clinic
The Middleburg-Orange County Pony Club will hold a show jumping clinic with Kitty Beveridge on April 8 and 9 at Foxcroft School stable near Middleburg.
Ms. Beveridge, an accomplished trainer and rider from Middleburg, will help riders and their horses improve their jumping abilities with several techniques. Those taking the clinic will be taught gymnastics to improve jumping ability and there will be schooling work plus discussion of the theory of riding a jump course and how to approach certain fences.
The session April 8 is at 5 p.m. for riders on ponies. The April 9 session at 6 p.m. is for riders on horses. Cost of each session is $15, to benefit the Middleburg-Orange County Pony Club. For more information call (703)754-2982.
