As outlined in our by-laws, the annual meeting was held on Thursday, March 20 and only four people showed up. This problem, I understand, is not particular to the RHS, but it is nonetheless disheartening for a county so rich in resources, both natural and human. For this effort to be worthwhile, we need county support. We need participation by both citizens and supervisors to make this organization work. We need help to make this a self-perpetuating company.
It is not unrealistic to foresee us raising funds to help pay for the county animal shelter, to raise public participation, to administer to the needs of the shelter and help staff it.
It is entirely possible that this society could set up and run such programs as vaccination clinics, adoption services, spay and neutering programs, and have fund-raisings such as dog (mut) shows. In order for this effort to be a success, we need to continue our work, improve on communication with citizens, our membership, and the Board of Supervisors. Most of all, we need your help. We need your support. We need your money. We need your participation!
