As reported by Rapp News 3/28, the unanimous decision! *f the school board to recommend an 11 percent increase for total teachers' salaries and full retirement compensation was a positive effort to bring into line teacher salaries with surrounding counties.
On Wednesday, 3/27 RCEA budget committee members asked Supt. Estabrook if the projected 85-86 teachers' salaries which they calculated were correct with Estabrook’s idea of the projected budget. The committee members were specifically asked if supplemental pay for masters were to be added after the 11 percent raise in teachers' salaries. He assured budget members that their projection was accurate and smiles were exchanged.
The committee budget members also asked for a copy of the budget proposed by the school board members as soon as it became available and if there were any sigm of changes, they asked to he let known; he said “he would.” The supervisors' copies were sent to the courthouse before any were available to RCEA members.
