Thaniel Dodson lost half of his orchards over two years ago because of deer damage. He recommended that the hunting limit on doe be increased to two per day.

Phil Irwin, president of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, agreed that the doe limit should be increased. “I am behind whatever the county can do” to enact such a limit.

Asked to comment on the problem, Rappahannock’s Game Warden Jim Bankston delivered bad news. “The county missed its chance to do something about it,” referring to the State Game Commission’s meeting on March 16 and 16 during which any proposals to alter the State’s game laws should have been made.
