The problem for Sharp and others is aggravated because their orchards border on the park where the deer population is high.

Ed Streapy said he lost 300 of his 1200 trees, adding that everybody loses due to deer damage. He was referring to the taxes on apples that neither the state nor the county will collect because of apples lost to deer. “We (the orchardists) certainly lose, and we are very limited in what we can do.”

Streapy suggested that the bag ' limit on deer be increased. In the meantime “I kill them.”

Charles Foster, who has 300 acres of orchards and has lost 20 to 30 percent of them, said 'i’ll have to kill them (the deer) unless the county can do something to eliminate them."
