The day’s largest field will be in the maiden hurdle, also a purse race, and with 21 entries it is likely to be split.
Several horses that have already proven themselves on the turf will be contesting this race.
Audrey Riker’s Heavy Charge, which won a flat race at Piedmont and was second at Middleburg, will be a horse to watch. Trainer D. M. Smithwick’s Fabuleux Chance, which has had two seconds and a third this season, will also be one to watch as will Chilly Bleak Farm’s Alfa Wave which won at Rappahannock and Paul B. Cramer’s Shasta Be Good which finished second in a hurdle race at Piedmont and third on the flat at Warrenton.
A shallow field has been entered for the Seven Corners race, sixth on the card. Only six entries have been made for this 3’/i-mile timber race, and three of these are cross-entered in the novice timber race.
