Pleasure trail ride

The Blue Ridge Hunt will hold a pleasure trail ride through its hunting country to the banks of the Shenandoah on Saturday, April 13.

The ride will have two groups, one for inexperienced riders or those preferring a leisurely ride and one at a faster pace with some trotting, cantering and jumping. Both English and Western style riding is encouraged. The ride is expected to last about two hours.

Cost of the ride is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The ride leaves from Greenwood Farm on Rt. 627 near White Post. For more information call (703)837-1287 or 83-1259.

• Jumping series begins

The United States Grand Prix League, now in its second year, will hold its second event of the season, the $25,000 Showday Grand Prix, April 6 at Commonwealth Park at Culpeper.

The event is one of 18 scheduled for the year at shows across the country. Starting time is 3 p.m. and admission is free to the public.

The grand prix is one of many classes at the Maryland National Hunter Classic at Commonwealth Park which begins April 4 with schooling, green and working hunter classes. There also will be other jumper classes, pony classes and equitation classes. For more information call (703)825-8960.
