Budget time is over for another year, and many people, especially those involved with the school budget, are relieved.
The time between February and June is always filled with controversy, and this year was no different. Now the effects of what was done with the budget can be assessed as preparations for a new school year begin.
The major activity at the school board since before the end of the past school year has been teacher recruitment. Assistant Superintendent Tom Campbell said that there have been 15 teacher resignations so far, and that some contracts have not been returned.
“We have people move on for various reasons, not jus. because of dissatisfaction with the system and not wanting to stay,” Campbell said. “Recruitment is going very well, but we still have some positions open. ”
