She did offer some details on a “Victim Witness” proposal, which as attorney general she would work to enact into law. The proposal would 1) ensure for victims and witnesses waiting rooms separate from criminals, 2) ensure the speedy return of property to the victims of robberies, and 3) ensure that employers are notified when an employee is on duty as a witness.
Terry deplored the fact that criminals have rights such as the Miranda Law (which states that suspects must be read their rights), while victims have no rights that require they be compensated after crimes.
As attorney general, Terry would continue her fight against drunk driving. Essentially she thinks the fight will be won by “beefing up public awareness of the problem.”
