The fact that Terry is a woman gives the ticket a new look, but overall she does not expect that to have a significant affect on the race. “I’m sure there will be those for whom it will constitute an extra hurdle to consider voting for a woman,” she said. But “it’s in the Virginia tradition to consider candidates on their merits.”
What does Terry think of Ronald Reagan? “I support the president in a number of his initiatives, and I have some difficulties in others, but I really wouldn’t want to (elaborate) on that. It’s not an issue in the race for attorney general.”
Terry said she is not interested in any office higher tnan attorney general. “My personal goal, if and when elected attorney general, is to serve in that office in such a way as to justify the confidence of all those who have supported me...and also to earn the respect of those who didn’t choose to support me.”
