Sperryville Methodist Church The Sperryville United Methodist Church will have Bible School at the church beginning July 22-26 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon daily. The theme for the week will be “Tell Me The Stories Of Jesus.” An interesting week has been planned and will conclude with a special program on Sunday evening. The public is invited.
A Soldier’s Story This satisfying mystery, loaded with social commentary and intraracial texture will be shown this Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gay Street Theatre in Washington. Howard Rolins, Jr. heads a stallar cast of mostly black actors in this beautiful adaptation of the Pulitzer prize winning play. He plays a black captain sent from Washington to solve the murder of a black N.C.O. in Louisiana in 1944. It’s rated PG and is 102 minutes long.
Biological Farmers Workshop Set The Extension and Virginia Association of Biological Farmers are co-sponsoring a workshop on Ecological Farming at Blackstone on Saturday, July 20 at Southern Piedmont Research and Continuing Education Center. The center is located on Route 40, two miles west of Blackstone across from the airport, watch for signs. All members and the public are invited to attend.
Jenkins Family Reunion Scheduled The third annual family reunion of the late Aubrey R. and Ellen Baker Jenkins has been scheduled for Sunday, July 21 at the Rappahannock Park on Route 211 near Washington. All relatives and friends are invited. For additional information call 675-3662.
