Brad r isher was most expert in handling the music and announcements. His expert electronic communications center made it possible for most people to hear and participate.
Roger Roach, fire chief, was most cooperative in seeing to the needs of the people. The Sheriffs Department provided dignified and careful watching for infractions on the grounds during the programs. Thank you from all of us.
Let it be known that the audience which covered most of the available hill areas and the dam site as well as the highway were the chief participants. You were the passive recipients who provided the cheers which spurred the performers on to do their best. Without the crowd I cannot imagine the Gilkeys out in an abandoned field shooting off fireworks for their own pleasure.
There were no casualties as far as we know. Mrs. Carrigan with me hopes everyone, performers and viewers, enjoyed this Independence Day Celebration at Avon Hall.
Finally, a big thank you to the unknown clean-up squad who cleared the hills of trash-they still ring with the music. I can hear it.
