Nowadays there are very few careers that do not require a high level of schooling.
The purpose of a conference would be to get people talking about schools and taxes while these issues are not in the throes of controversy. Better solutions may result if the problems are discussed during the off-season, so to speak.
The problem of how to raise enough revenue for schools without breaking the backs of taxpayers will not fade away, much as we would like it to. The issues have to be faced.
We would appreciate comments from people on the idea of holding a conference on the future of Rappahannock’s school system. The controversy will come again next year. Let’s do something about it before then.
