Gerhart repotted that the foundations for the treatment tankage have been put in place and the foundations for the treatment plant building are being laid. “To date, the pipeline contractor has in excess of 3,000 feet (of pipe) in the ground out of about 26,000 feet,” Gerhart said. Dennis asked White to make periodic checks on the construction progress and make reports to the authority.
Wayne Cilimberg, executive director of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning Commission in Culpeper, presented a draft of a letter to be sent to home owners in the service area whose houses’ electrical wiring does not meet the requirements necessary to install septic pumps when the system becomes operational. The letter will be sent to each affected home owner after suggested changes are made.
Cilimberg told the authority that state requirements concerning the staff person hired to work at sewage plants exceed the needs of the Sperryville system. Gerhart said that the state requires that the person hired spend eight hours a day at the plant, but that there may be some potential for relief from the requirement.
Cilimberg said that the position should be shared with the county if possible. “Perhaps whoever works in maintenance at the schools could work at the plant, too,” Cilimberg said. Dennis asked that Cilimberg try to get the requirement lifted for the system.
