Rappahannock County girls’ cross country runners defeated Brentsville District, but the boys lost to the Tigers in the final regular season meet of the season in Sperryville on Oct. 16.

Both teams were scheduled to run in the Bull Run District meet yesterday in Strasburg.

The Region B meet is scheduled for Oct. 30 at Piedmont Community College in Charlottesville.

For the RCHS girls, the 26-29 win was highlighted by a course record-setting performance by Bonnie Grimsley, who won the race in 20:03, 25 seconds faster than the No. 2 finisher, Rappahannock’s Karen Ludwick.

In all, the Panthers placed three runners in the top four spots to barely edge their Bull Run competitors.

Kathy Dodson (20:49) finished fourth, Kelly Brown (24:26) was ninth and April Adams (27:47) was 10th.
