Marley Hay was the first Rappahannock finisher in 15:48, good enough for fourth place overall. Hay was followed by Jonathan Watson who was fifth in 15:54.
John Dodson was sixth in 16:46, Neil Burke eighth in 16:47, Todd Williams ninth in 16:56, Mike Dunn 10th in 17:04 and Tony Clarke 11th in 17:10.
“The boys lost, but their individual times have improved by as much as one minute,” coach Ann Spieker reported.
Wakefield School and Page County High School were also scheduled to run but did not show up for the meet.
“Rappahannock (boys) had a pack of eight runners to finish in the eighth through 15th positions,” the coach added. “If all runners would have counted, Rappahannock would have won, but only the top seven can be used in scoring positions.”
After the meet, the teams looked ahe*(d to the district run.
“The team will work hard on hills in preparation, as Strasburg’s course is a hilly, 3.1-mile course,” Spieker said.
