High school
searches
for recent grads
Rappahannock County High school officials are attempting to contact, or “get re-acquainted with” its recent graduates.
The school will be sending survey forms to graduates within the last 10 years — from the Class of 1975 to the Class of ’85 — who have verifiable addresses.
The school urges graduates prior to 1975 to contact the school to provide updated addresses.
A survey form will appear in the Oct. 31 edition of the Rappahannock News.
The postcard survey distributed by the school will serve two purposes, according to Principal Robert Chappell. One is to update mailing lists.
The second purpose is to determine whether a sort of homecoming can be organized.
Chappell said graduates will be polled to see if an alumni basketball night can be scheduled for Dec. 21.
“If there’s sufficient interest, we’ll probably play a ladies’ game at 7 p.m. with the mens’ game to follow at 8 p.m.,” said Chappell.
Said Chappell: “We view the events... as sort of a homecoming.”
Graduates should be receiving those surveys sometime in November, according to Chappell.
Community Concert
series opens
The Manhattan Rhythm Kings kick off the Community Concert Series at Culpeper High School Sunday at 3 p.m.
The trio, which has performed on both coasts, recreate the best of American music from the early days of jazz and ragtime, to the Big Band Sound of the early 1940s.
The concert, as is the series, is open only to members of the Community Concert Series Association.
